According to the temple's official site, it stands on the Coimbatore-Pollachi highway about 9 km from Coimbatore railway station, and its Vinayagar idol - 6 feet tall and 3 feet wide - was brought from Madurai.
Dedication: The temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, known as Vinayagar in Tamil, the remover of obstacles and the god of beginnings.
